Rise of The Tomb Raider is riddled with microtransactions

Postby Lieutenant Fatman » Mon Nov 09, 2015 11:06 am

Another triple A game trying to copy pay to play mobile phone games, although apparently not quite as Dead Space 3. And of course PS4 gamers have to wait a year for the privilege.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015- ... s-detailed

"Rise of the Tomb Raider includes microtransactions for blind packs of game-modifying cards. For example, one card gives you higher bullet resistance, while another lets you bandage yourself without using resources."

There will also be a Rise of the Tomb Raider season pass, which will add an "extreme" Endurance Mode, a new tomb and a wave-based mode.

Best take out a loan, Tomb Raider fans. ;-)

Why do I feel like they're purposely trying to kill this game? It's like they WANTED to fail for some reason. Just look at all the mistakes:

- Console exclusivity with Xbox, which has been outsold 7:2 at this point by PS4 going by sales estimates
- Releases the same day as Fallout
- Throws in microtransactions for a game that probably doesn't need them
- Goes with a snowy locale, following the similar path Uncharted laid years ago (island first, then Nepal, then Arabian peninsula)
- Season pass for more money

I can't understand this stupidness other than they want to fail.

Micro transactions piss me off the most. I'm okay with sizable DLC packages that add a significant amount of content to the game, but if the DLC is something tiny like a song at the main menu, that's bullcrap. You could've added that song into the main game without any effort.
