Shahikot MountainsA Chinook helicopter has crashed somewhere in the Shahikot mountains. These snow covered mountain peaks, called The Valley of the Kings in the local tongue, has been a rebel hiding place since ancient times. Python 1 is inserted to investigate and look for survivors in these eerie surroundings. As they embark from their helicopter they hear the first crackling sound of a sniper rifle roll between the steep mountain sides.

Kunar Base
The sector designated N2KL along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border is teeming with violent activity. A coalition forward operating base comes under attack as insurgents mount an aggressive assault. The remote hill top is slowly covered in smoke from constant artillery strikes as soldiers huddle in the maze like trenches.

These very cool strategy maps are courtesy of our friends at Prima Games.

Combat Mission is an objective based game mode for online multiplayer where Coalition forces must clear five consecutive objectives while the insurgent forces must stop them from progressing.

Sector Control is a domination type game mode where players fight to secure and hold objective points, contributing to the final score of the match..

Shaikot Mountains Map

Objectives on Shahikot Mountains:
Neutralize chopper wreck.
Neutralize ammo depot.
Assault stronghold.
Destroy mortar station.
Neutralize anti-aircraft gun.

Tactics on Shahikot Mountains:

Coalition

Take control of the high points and make sure to cover your advance with smoke grenades. There will be many insurgent snipers waiting to take you out so laying suppressing fire while advancing is a must. The key to break through the chokepoints are smoke grenades with consistent rushing from cover to cover while taking out any snipers in the hills.

Insurgents
The coalition will try to come from all directions to get an advantage, make sure to find a good spot where you can see them first to take them out.
Rushing the coalition forces is not recommended since they will come in groups and can spawn near friendly units.
Take advantage of the choke points on the level to create a barrier that the coalition need to break through.

Kunar Base Map

Tactics on Sector Control:
In sector control you need to control at least 2 of the 3 sectors to take control of the map so this is your first objective.
When you have secured a sector try to cover it from a distance instead of standing at it where you can be struck with grenades or a mortar strike!
Make sure to take advantage of the few high points that exist on this level such as the towers and roof tops.
Sneaking through the barracks while clearing the rooms with a hand grenade is a great way to get around and ambush the enemy forces.

Thanks for the info, GJ. I could give it a go. I fail completely at PC FPS games but it could be a laugh :D

Heres my opinions on the beta after a few hours of play. Its fun fast paced and in certain modes to move up u need to do it tactically. Throw some smoke for cover while ur teammates are laying down suppressive fire and sprint to the next set of cover. move up untill u clear out enemy stronghold and get rid of those pesky snipers. Get score chains bring a offensive or defensive one in to help ur team. Bring in an offensive one to clear out a group of enemies so u can advance or bring in defensive to give ur team better armor, bullets, uav etc.
Snipers are one shot kills to head and chest bolt actions I mean so snipers play an effective roll in advancing or defending. Also the hit detection and the way the guns fire is greatly improved from the beta with the m21 and holo sight u now have the range u would expect from the gun and stopping power to back it up.

Gun custimization is great and I expect many many more guns in the main version
-change barrels for range, accuracy, or close range its up to u but only after u unlock them.
Ammo types such as hollow points do more damage but u lose out on range dont know what other types they offer yet
sights- choose ur sights from red dots, to holographic sights, to scopes even on assault rifle or for snipers a better long range scope or range finder.

overall Im having a blast and cant wait for this game to drop on the 12th
